SCHOOL HISTORY

In September of 1890, under the direction of a lay teacher, Father E. J. Lavaquery, opened a school, which we now know as Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic School.  Enrollment that year was ten boys and eight girls.  The Benedictine Fathers assumed care of the church in 1912, and in 1916 the Benedictine Sisters from St. Scholastica convent in Covington came to Mandeville to help build the school into what it is today.  From a starting enrollment of eighteen students, Our Lady of the Lake has grown to over 800 students.  «Read More

FACULTY

The faculty at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic School is comprised of more than 50 members.  All faculty members have a Bachelor of Arts degree or a Bachelor of Science degree, with one third of the faculty holding advanced degrees.  «Read More

ENROLLMENT

Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic School offers a pre-kindergarten through seventh grade curriculum.  The student/teacher ratio is 16/1.  The class size will not exceed 24 in kindergarten and first grade, and 30 in all other grades.  «Read More

CURRICULUM

The entire OLL curriculum meets all Bulletin 741 standards for nonpublic schools.  Textbooks are reviewed and adopted on a rotating basis, and students are supplied with  the best educational materials.  All Middle School textbooks, with the exception of reading, spelling, and religion are on CD and are loaded onto the students’ hard drives; some are also available online.  Beyond Middle School, some textbooks are also available online.
