The following programs are offered:

The Our Lady of the Lake Choir is made up of students in grades 3-5. They perform many concerts in the community during Christmas and in the spring they produce a Musical. This year the Choir was asked to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” at the New Orleans Hornets game. The Choir is under the direction of Mrs. Guillory and is assisted by Mrs. Hamilton. they meet on Tuesdays from 2:15-3:00.

Students in the Middle School and 5th grade participate in Student Council as officers and representatives. Students in this organization have the opportunity to serve their school and community in various ways. The Student Council collects coats and blankets for St. Vincent De Paul, collect toiletries for the Samaritan Center, sponsors Wear What You Want Days for charitable organizations, sells Valentine’s Candy in order to raise money to improve the school, represents Elks Teens of the Month at monthly meetings, represents Elk’s Teachers of the Year, organizes a lunch for Teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week, food for the Second Harvesters food drive, hosts Grandparent’s Day, raises money for Relay for Life, and represents classmate’s. The moderator is Liz Karcher and Student Council meets on select Wednesdays from 2:15-3:00 P.M.

Quiz Bowl is an academic contest in which team members compete against another team by answering trivia questions. Here at Our Lady Of the Lake we have two teams, a sixth grade team and a seventh grade team. The sixth graders will compete in an online contest called “Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl” against other Sixth grades throughout the state. The Seventh graders will participate in the Brother Martin Regional Quiz Bowl Meet in March. Mrs. Guillory is the Quiz Bowl Moderator. They meet on Mondays from 2:15-3:00.

As the new yearbook advisor, I’ve been very busy learning the technology in creating a the book.  I have also been very busy taking pictures! The cover has been chosen, and the book is underway!  Mrs. Mouton
